The day I called my raid leader ugly

Jargon.  A noun.  Meaning: the technical terminology or characteristic idiom of a special activity or group sports jargon

I usually think about jargon when it comes to tech.  Most things that people who are really good with computers and such say goes right over my head.

No matter your profession though, we all have some type of Jargon we’re versed in.

Talking about the stations I listen to and have worked for over the years, when it comes to their actual formats and programming, I lose my parents when I start spouting off CHR, AC, Hot AC, etc.  They can’t follow that.  But since I’ve been around it for 12+ years, it’s second nature to me.

And it gets me in trouble.

If you didn’t catch it on stream, or here, I’m a voice artist.  I talk for a living.  A lot.  And I work a bit in radio.  Hence the format jargon above.

And this wonderful little gem from the other day.

Our raid leader, Co-GM of Warcraftier, and also fellow streamer Serickson/Serbear finally got a webcam!  Since he knows about what I do out of game (see the above) he had me check out his stream a bit to work on some of the audio levels.

I gave him some advice.  Told him to ditch the webcam mic.  And we checked back a couple days later to see where the levels were while using a different mic.  Was the balance there with the music in the background, Discord, his mic, etc.

And me…firmly situated in my audio nerd zone pops back on my mic, telling him how much better it sounds.  It all sounds great, but he could stand to be hotter.

To which Discord goes silent.

Yeah.

In my audio nerd zone, of course I’m talking about his Microphone.  The levels need to be higher for his voice to be on the same level as Discord voices.  Hotter in this case is referring to the sensitivity of the microphone.

But they don’t know that.

Very seriously I was asked if I was telling Ser that he’s ugly.

And now we have a mortified Druid.

He was a pretty good sport about it.  Still funny though.  And mortifying.  But funny.

RP Spotlight: Time Spent Behind Bars

I’d like to start showcasing some of the stories that players come up with.  If you’d like to be featured, DM me on Twitter or comment and point me towards your tale!

To start with, I ran across one from a guild mate of mine, Cri from Warcraftier on Cenarion Circle.  I realize it was posted some time ago, but I’d love to know what happened.  Maybe I’ll poke them and see if they can let us know.

Is it really necessary

PSA moment.

We’re all gamers here.  We all enjoy our games for various reasons.

And there are times we get a little to in to what we’re doing.  We get excited.  We get frustrated.  We’re in the moment and get caught up in it.

But where’s the line?  Is there one?

How about if you verbally attack someone that isn’t playing the way you play?  Especially after games have ended.

Aren’t games supposed to be fun?  Isn’t that their purpose?  Entertainment?

When did attacking other players outside of a game become acceptable?  Is that your entertainment?

It shouldn’t be.  And no, it should never be acceptable.

Let people play for fun.  Not everyone is playing with the goal of pro in mind.  Some people are playing to blow off steam.  To relax.  To, /gasp, have fun.  What a novel concept, right?

If and when someone upsets you in game, or isn’t performing to your standards/playing on your level, take a breath first and realize that if you go after another player in and out of game, that act is worse than one or two bad matches in a video game.  And it says a heck of a lot more about your lack of character than theirs if you follow through with being a dick out of game.

We’re all gamers.  Let’s be good to each other, okay?

Weekly Raid Thoughts

This week has been all over the place!

Monday I picked up some weird stomach bug.  Went to bed with a fever.

Thought I had kicked it by Tuesday, but when it came our Heroic Nighthold raid time, it started making an appearance again.

Enter in the night of Scruffy dies.  A lot.

I’m not sure what the heck was going on, but dang.  I was pulling aggro on mobs.  Dying to silly things.  Not moving quick enough, which is already one of my weak points.  Accidentally pulling Spellblade with the very edge and on the very last tick of Starfall.  You know, I’m pretty sure I probably died to just about every boss.  Especially the ones I don’t usually die to.

I was pretty mortified.  Even more so than usual, but as Ser says, everyone has an off night now and again.

Gul’dan was our only target left Wednesday night to take down in Heroic and we made pretty quick work of him.  And yes!  It is possible to flap off the top of the tower down to the courtyard without killing yourself.  Neat trick, Druid friends!

Even though Mythic raids are supposed to be Mondays and Thursdays and I have opted to sit them out, we found ourselves with enough people and trekking back into the Nighthold.WC_MChronomatic Anomaly

Skorpyron fell to our group again and we went back to work on Chronomatic Anomaly.

I’m thrilled to say, even though it took several attempts and I died in the last few moments of his lifespan, we have successfully taken Chronomatic Anomaly.

WC_MTrilliaxAND TRILLIAX!

That’s right!  Took three attempts for Trilliax, but he’s down too!  We’re 3/10M now!

I’m still not a hardcore number cruncher, but I’m a pretty lucky Druid Lady that Warcraftier takes me along on these adventures.  It has truly been an absolute blast so far!

If you’d like to check out the kills, I’ve started a little collection on my Twitch Channel.  They’re not super polished right now, but they’re something. 🙂

Why I’m not at the Mage Tower

The Mage Tower became active yesterday and while I have been actively funneling resources its way and doing the quests on the Broken Shore, I won’t be doing the Challenge Mode.

Not right now anyways.

I spent a lot of time reading up on it, hanging out in the Druid Discord and listening to their experiences.  Right now, it isn’t pretty.  Challenging, yes, which is exciting.  But when Mythic Raiders better geared than I am are having extreme difficulty with it, with ilevels starting at 905 and beyond, this 893 Druid can wait a bit.

Talking with a lot of the other classes, it looks like which legendaries you have will play a bigger role in helping you master the event as well.  Right now, I only have two for Balance.  The Impeccable Fel Essence is probably my favorite, but I could stand to have a few more.

With the challenge only being free once a day and then 100 Nethershards for every attempt after that, when those shards could be going towards better gear for myself, I can wait.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to try the challenge mode and eventually get it down, but right now I still feel pretty off on my damage output. I feel like it’s fluctuating too much.  Some times its there, some times it’s back at the bottom of the barrel.  I’d rather feel more confident in what I’m doing before I toss the currency that can upgrade my gear.

To those going up against the challenge modes these next couple days, good luck!  We’ll all get it soon!

To Recap…

Got a new desk last week.  Was pretty darn excited about it.  Was going to give my desk to my husband.  Yeah, it was kind of a cheap particle board “L” shaped desk that couldn’t quite fit everything on it for me anymore, but it would have been great for my husband, his lap top and tiny mixer.  And he was pretty excited about the possibility of having a proper desk again.

So, we clean the office.  We vacuum, dust, move out the crappy desk, say a prayer before we move all my studio equipment, and make note of what wires are supposed to go where when we put it all back together, and then go to move the “L” desk.

It promptly falls apart.  One side just rips off the frame and just to throw salt in the wound, it turns itself in the process, effectively ripping the screws out through the sides of the boards.  There is no possible way to put back to usable working order.

And then a power strip blew up.  Really lucky we didn’t have an office fire on that one.  Went to plug in the vacuum cleaner and it sparked out on us.

The microphone and mixer didn’t want to talk to each other once got everything set back up.  (Fixed thankfully!)

Went to set up the second monitor that I’ve had sitting on the floor for the last 5 months (which is why I got the new desk in the first place, room for two monitors and my lap top) and we didn’t have a cord.  Bought the wrong cord.  Got another cord.  It still wasn’t the right one or would work with the computer and monitor.  Then my husband stumbled across one we apparently had all this time tucked away in a box of stuff.

Murphy’s law folks. It’s running rampant in my house this weekend.

My voice is pretty much back to where it’s supposed to be.  Less cracking.  Still gets tired pretty easily, but I’ve been back to working so I’ve had some marathon recording sessions this weekend.  Looking forward to getting caught up on everything later today.

And hopefully finish out the farming for E’chero on my Druid and another 100 Love Tokens on my mage, who somehow went from level 64 to 78 in the past couple days.

Portals.  It’s gotta be the portals.

More things I Learned

Appel and I finished up our Demon Hunter’s last night.  By finished, I mean got them out of the starting zone and on to the quest lines in the Broken Isles that everyone can do.  I ran across a few more things that made me go “Hey wait…”

  1. Illysanna Ravencrest.  Went to get my Twinblades of the Deceiver for my Havoc spec and she’s accompanying me.  Had to stop for a moment and ask “Haven’t I killed her several times in Black Rook Hold?”  The answer is yes.  Yes I have.
  2. I still don’t recall the big dang dog in our break out of the Warden’s Prison, but the dog is there and very much dead in the instance.  So, where’d that guy come from?

Not an awful lot noticed.  I am still unsettled by Spaceships in World of Warcraft.  We now have a demon spacecraft.  Well, we commandeered it.

And thank you Blizzard for putting the Demon Hunter Class off entrance on a little island off a Dalaran I have to glide to.  I was dying to jump off Dalaran and glide around the moment I got there.  I’m probably still going to do that.  I’m pretty sure that’s how I’m going to get to Azuna.
